Starting February 22
COVENANT is an eight-week post-Encounter class designed to continue what was started at the weekend by taking you deeper in your experience of discipleship, your covenantal identity, and the restoration of our whole person (imago dei) through union with Jesus. This class is the first of three movements in Imago’s discipleship process following the catalytic Encounter Weekend. If the Encounter is about “getting free,” than COVENANT is about equipping you to “stay free.”
“Covenant” is the language the Bible uses to describe God’s relationship with his people. When a covenant is made, two parties enter into an agreement whereby both are required to take the identity on the identity of the other and become ONE. The Covenant of Marriage is the best picture we have of this type of exchange and oneness. Everything that belongs to the husband now belongs to the bride and vis-versa. In like fashion, Jesus takes our humanity and the punishment of our sin, and we receive his divinity, a completely new nature, his cleanness, and a position in the Kingdom as sons and daughters – the delight of his life. Jesus has offered to us the relationship he enjoys with the Father.
In this class you will learn how to enjoy your freedom by:
- Growing in intimacy with God by understanding the heart of the Father and his invitation for you to join in his gladness.
- Becoming confident in our new identity as the objects of his affection – the sons and daughters of God who live in their Father’s love and then become that same love to those around them.
- Receiving practical tools to engage prayer and scripture meditation that go beyond information and lead to daily encounter with the Living God and whole-life transformation.
Come and learn your identity as one who is enjoyed by God, and enjoy him in return! You were made for God, you were made for freedom, you were made for love.
**If taken as the second step in Imago Dei Anglican Church's discipleship process, attendance is required each week.
